Emerging Markets

This chapter is aimed at opening people’s perspective on the existing opportunities beyond their own borders. If London and New York have taken the spotlight in terms of FINTECH development, other regions of the world offer high-growth opportunities for both international and local FINTECH companies.

This chapter aims to broaden horizons and suggest new opportunities that exist beyond the North American and European Markets. This can include recent developments such as China, which has recently authorised the first digital bank supported by private capital and is owned by a social network as well as the mobile money sector development in the Middle East. What new businesses can be built on the back of the internationalisation of the renminbi? How can FINTECH support India’s objective to provide each household with a bank account under the “Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana” scheme? These are all questions that can find their answers in this chapter.
